Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to SwissAnaesthesia 2026 in Interlaken, held under the theme “Perioperative Medicine 2026 – Shaping our Future.”

Perioperative medicine is evolving rapidly. New scientific insights, innovative technologies, changing healthcare systems and, above all, our growing understanding of the patient as a whole are shaping the way we practise anaesthesia and perioperative care. Our congress offers an opportunity to reflect on these developments, exchange experiences and discuss how we can actively shape the future of our specialty.

The programme brings together a broad range of topics, perspectives and formats, with inspiring lectures, interactive sessions, workshops and opportunities for scientific exchange. We are particularly pleased to welcome an outstanding faculty from Switzerland and abroad. At the same time, SwissAnaesthesia remains a place for personal encounters: for discussions between colleagues, for networking across generations and disciplines, and for sharing ideas beyond the formal programme.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of the Congress Committee. Their commitment, expertise and enthusiasm have been essential in developing a programme that reflects both current challenges and future opportunities in perioperative medicine.

My special thanks also go to BBS Congress GmbH, our congress organisation agency, for their professional support and for all the work behind the scenes that makes this meeting possible. I am equally grateful to our exhibitors and industry partners for their support and for contributing to the exchange between clinical practice, science and innovation.

Finally, I would like to thank you, our participants, for being part of SwissAnaesthesia 2026. A congress comes alive through the people who attend it, the questions they ask, the ideas they share and the conversations they start.
