SwissAnaesthesia

The future of anesthesia and perioperative medicine

Greetings

Dear colleagues,

The SSAPM Congress Committee is delighted to invite you to SwissAnaesthesia 2025, taking place from November 6–8, 2025, at Beaulieu Lausanne.
This joint event, organized in collaboration with the Swiss Association for Anesthesia Care (SIGA/FSIA), will once again unite leading experts, professionals, and enthusiasts in the field of anesthesia. Under the theme “The Future of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine,” the congress promises thought-provoking discussions and forward-looking insights into the latest developments shaping our specialty.

The meeting will begin on Thursday morning with engaging refresher courses that cover key aspects of anesthesia and perioperative care and a symposium on perioperative research made in Switzerland. These will be followed by poster presentations, and free communications showcasing innovative research and clinical progress. Additionally, a dedicated workshop on how to give a good exam will provide valuable insights for examiners and educators. In the afternoon, satellite meetings of the interest groups SSPA, SARA, SAOA, ASOPA, and SACTA will take place in parallel with a mini-symposium on pain medicine. The day will conclude with a convivial evening gathering at the legendary SwissAnaesthesia bar in the exhibition, during which awards will be presented for the best abstracts and scientific contributions.

On Friday, a distinguished line-up of national and international speakers will explore three perspectives on this year’s theme — “Knowledge,” “The Open Mind,” and “The Future.” The SSAPM General Assembly will be held from 10:30 AM to noon. While the conference language is English, the General Assembly will take place in German and French, with simultaneous translation provided.
At the same time, our colleagues from SIGA-FSIA will be offering exciting workshops and lectures for experts in the field of anesthesia care and holding their annual general meeting.

In the evening, the SSAPM Congress Party will take place at the Muséé Olympique—food, drinks, and great beats from DJ QUBE! Don't miss out!

Following the great success of last year’s inaugural Swiss Anaesthesia Trainees’ Day (SAT-Day), an initiative led by our younger colleagues, this year’s program includes POCUS and simulation workshops, and exam preparation in small groups, designed to maximize learning impact. Experienced colleagues are, of course, warmly welcome to join these sessions. In addition to the SAT-Day, an EEG workshop will be offered. A strong turnout on Saturday will once again enhance the interactive and educational atmosphere of the congress.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Congress Committee for their dedication in designing this year’s scientific program, and to our industry partners for their invaluable support, contributions, and symposia at SwissAnaesthesia 2025.

A special word of thanks also goes to the BBS Congress Team for their outstanding commitment, enthusiasm, and professionalism in organizing this year’s event.

With best regards,
Prof. Dr. Martin Schläpfer
